Nonington Church

There has been a Church here in Nonington for about 900 years or so. The present building, dedicated to St Mary, dates from the twelfth century with later alterations and additions. The last major restoration took place in the 1800s.

When were the Friends established?

The Friends of Nonington Church (Charity Commission 1096881) was formed at a meeting in March 2002 following an enthusiastic response from the residents of the village.

Why Friends?

The building contains a wealth of history, both in terms of its architecture and the social development of the village.

Our aim is to achieve a more flexible, warm, comfortable and attractive environment that will encourage the continuing use of the building by all, both as a sacred space offering an opportunity to meet with God, and a school and community resource. Raising funds would enable projects to be pursued. Come and join us! Members and ideas welcome!
